Featured Poet of December Q & A

 Featured Poet of December Q & A

Congratulations to Misty Page; Featured Poet of December! As a follow-up to her poem, "Riding in the Backseat", she has agreed to answer some questions about her writing journey.

Question #1:
How long have you been writing?

Misty:
First I'd like to thank Barely Seen for giving me this opportunity to talk with your readers and share my thoughts. I've been writing since I was four years old.

Question #2:
What theme or idea do you most like to write about?

Misty:
I don't think in terms of what ideas or themes I want to write about. I think in terms of what I want to do for an audience. I like to incite emotion. The most common genre I like to write in is adventure because it inspires people to go out and experience their own world of wonder!

Question #3:
Do you mostly write poetry, or do you write other types of creative work?

Misty:
I would say about forty percent of my work is poetry. Most of my creative work is novel.

Question #4:
Why do you like writing poetry?

Misty:
I love to write poetry because it is fun!

Question #5:
Do you have any advice for new poets?

Misty:
Write like you mean it. If you're a new poet, my advice to you is this: Learn the rules of grammar. Learn how to spell. Learn what words rhyme and keep the rhythm and syllable count perfect. Put care into your work. Concerning the value in your writing, no one should push you more than you do.

Thanks, Misty, for taking the time to answer my questions!
